Acting Governor Heru Surveys Readiness of Flood Control Infrastructure in Penjaringan

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono together with ranks of the Jakarta Provincial Government and Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Chairman, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi, surveyed the pump house and NCICD embankment in Pluit, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, Wednesday (10/19).

There are several homeworks requested by the ministry and still being discussed

It was carried out to ensure that the flood control infrastructure in Jakarta, especially in North Jakarta, runs optimally.

Prior to the survey, the Acting Governor and DPRD Chairman listened to the explanation from the Jakarta Water Resources Agency (SDA) about the readiness of infrastructure to face the rainy season and the progress of the NCICD development conducted by the central and regional governments.

According to the Acting Governor, today's survey was the result of a meeting with the Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) a few days earlier regarding the NCICD embankment.

Then it aimed to ensure the pump operates optimally considering that the Jakarta Government had received assistance for a new pump from Japan to increase the discharge of water discharged into the sea.

"There are several homeworks requested by the ministry and still being discussed. Talk about the NCICD development, we also keep coordinating with the ministries of Marine and Fishery (KKP) and Transportation," he concluded.

SDA Agency Head, Yusmada Faisal explained that until now the NCICD embankment construction project is still ongoing. The embankment construction under the PUPR Ministry has 11 kilometers long in Pluit and under the Jakarta Government has 22 kilometers long.

"Our focus is on Muara Angke and it is targeted to be completed in 2026," he stated.

The survey continued to Pulo River on Jalan Jati Padang Raya, Jati Padang, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta. It is known, the environment around Pulo River is prone to flooding during the rainy season, even though it rains for a relatively short time.

“Currently, a study is being conducted to overcome the flood. We're ready to guard and follow the leadership's direction, thus the people here are free from flooding," stated South Jakarta Mayor, Munjirin.
